We are much obliged for your favour of the 1st March -Ref-9244/1916-- in reply to which we beg to state that the facts

of the oase are exactly as you understand them.

The documents for our open claim were negotiated through various banka, one of them being the Dentsche Asiatic Bank, as per copy which we sent you in our letter of the 24th February.

Hegara. Boodiker & Co., of Hamburg ware always in the habit of drawing cheques against these credita, and forwarding the same to 118 for payment of our involɑss. Through the outbreak of the War, cheques never reached us, and therefore the various banks could simply have goted as agenta for collection. They received the respective mnies from the Liquidator, against the documents, but could not have parted with it to Boliker & Co., for reasons stated above.

At the same time, we are quite willing, in case payment could be now made, to give Bankers' guarantee for repayment, if any part of

our claim should be found to be not in order,
